Entering the gallery one is surrounded by the instruments that hang on small hooks along the walls. If you pick up an instrument and use it, play it, you will first hear the sound in your head. The instrument uses your head as a sounding board. The sound travels from your teeth through the structure of your head. The sound is heard from within the body instead of in the normal way when the sound comes from the outside into the ear and hits the eardrum. The sound exists only in your head and cannot be heard by those who stand beside you. The sound becomes a private experience out of reach for anyone else. The sound moves in your body and is limited by your body from the surrounding context.
